Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard Vision Zero and Mobility Plan

A Safer, More Connected Future for North Sacramento

The City of Sacramento is launching the Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard Vision Zero and Mobility Plan - a community-driven effort to improve safety, mobility, and access along two of the City’s highest-priority corridors.

Spanning Arden Way (from Del Paso Boulevard to Ethan Way) and Auburn Boulevard/Harvard Street (from Marconi Circle to Arden Way), this plan will reimagine how people move through North Sacramento—whether walking, biking, driving, or taking transit. The plan corridors are part of Sacramento’s Vision Zero High Injury Network, meaning they experience some of the highest serious crash rates in the city. With support from a Caltrans Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant, this plan will identify realistic, community-supported solutions to create safe, accessible, and inclusive streets for all.

Why these corridors?

Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard are vital connectors in North Sacramento. They link neighborhoods, jobs, transit, schools, parks, and shopping areas—but they lack the infrastructure needed for everyone to travel confidently and comfortably. This area is home to a diverse population and includes neighborhoods that have historically faced underinvestment.

The Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard Vision Zero and Mobility Plan will focus on:

  • Reducing traffic injuries and fatalities
  •  Expanding access to safe walking, biking, and transit
  •  Addressing community-identified challenges
  •  Supporting future housing and job growth
  •  Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Community at the Center

Your voice is essential! This planning effort is rooted in equity, deep listening, and partner collaboration. The planning team is working with local organizations, residents, business owners, and schools to ensure the plan reflects community priorities.

Engagement Highlights will Include

  • Pop-up events at parks, schools, and transit stops
  • Community workshops and walking tours
  • Targeted outreach to youth, seniors, and residents with disabilities
  • Multilingual surveys and visual engagement tools
  • An advisory group of community leaders and partners

Community members will help shape each phase of the plan—from identifying issues to reviewing draft concepts to confirming final recommendations.

What the Plan Will Deliver

By the end of the planning process (Spring 2027), the City will produce:

  • A safety and mobility plan tailored to Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard
  • Conceptual designs for high-priority safety and access improvements
  • Cost estimates and an implementation roadmap
  • A clear summary of community input and how it shaped the plan

This plan will help the City pursue future funding to turn your ideas into real improvements on the ground.
