Are you ready for the ultimate neighborhood chili cook-off?

Nothing brings people together like a big pot of chili! Join the office of Councilmember Caity Maple and the neighborhood in our first annual chili cook-off.

Neighbors will become friends, families will have fun, and local legends will be made — one spoonful at a time. Whether you’re cooking, tasting, or cheering on your favorite chef, this is your chance to be part of something deliciously special.

Timeline

  • 11 AM: Set-Up Time Begins For Contestants
  • 12 - 2 PM: Tasting and Voting
  • 2:30 PM: Winners Announced

If you do, we want you to compete! This competition is open to anyone who loves making chili and wants their neighbors to know it.

Accept the challenge? Here are the competition guidelines.
Contestants must provide enough chili to hand 100 samples out to guests (2-3 crockpots full).
Chili should be prepared ahead of time and brought to Mangan Park in your own crockpot.
Contestants provide their own crockpot and utensils.
Chili must be served warm. To this end, we will be providing outlets but contestants should bring their own extension cord(s).
Condiments are allowed (i.e cheese, cilantro, onion, etc.).
Accompaniments are allowed (i.e cornbread).
Spicy chili should not exceed edible limits.
No canned chili.
The chili should be 'homestyle' and must contain beans. Any choice of meat is allowed, as well as no meat.

FAQs

How much does it cost to attend the event as an audience member?

Free! And audience members may taste each chili once. Only $10 Unlimited Taste Band holders are allowed multiple samples.

Will eating utensils and cups be provided at the event?

Yes! If you're a contestant, just bring your crockpot (full of chili), serving utensils, and your own extension cord(s). If you're an audience member, bring your appetite.

Will there be tables and chairs provided?

Yes, we will set up tables throughout the event with linen and chairs will be provided for each contestant and their helpers.

Where do the proceeds of the event go?

The proceeds will go towards swimming pool passes for kids in the 2026 summer season.

Who decides on the winner?

The winner will be chosen by the people! Voting will occur through a tokens system. Glory and prizes await winners.
