New Acquisition Request - January 13, 2024

This week the California Office of Emergency Services notified us that the Kern County Sheriff’s Office has an OH-58 helicopter that they are no longer using, and it is available to transfer to another agency. We currently operate an OH-58 helicopter in our air ops fleet, and acquiring new parts for it is not cost effective. As such, the Sacramento Police Department intends to request acquisition of this equipment in order to utilize its parts to extend the life of our helicopter, and in an effort to hold maintenance costs to a minimum.

The air unit plays a vital role in public safety in our region, and acquiring this equipment will allow us to continue to provide air support in an efficient manner. As valued members of the community, you play a pivotal role in keeping your neighborhoods safe and aiding us in our mission to reduce crime. We thank you for your support.
