The Sacramento Fire Department’s mission is to protect our community through effective and innovative public safety services. The Department applies a proactive approach to fire prevention and encourages all to practice safety every day. Together we can improve the lives of residents and enhance the stability of businesses by preventing fires and reducing the impact if a fire should occur.

Fire prevention division

The Fire Prevention Division’s mission is to improve the lives of City residents by preventing fires and reducing the impact of fires that occur.

To accomplish its mission, our Division staff:

The services provided by the Fire Prevention Division are General Fund activities supported by Citywide Fees and Charges.

Fire Marshal

Fire Marshal Jason Lee is an experienced fire marshal with a demonstrated history of working in the public safety industry. FM Lee started with the Sacramento Fire Department as a firefighter reserve. FM Lee was then hired as a fire prevention officer in 2006 and became Acting Fire Marshal in 2015, and then Fire Marshal in 2017.

Fire Marshal Lee is skilled in Public Safety, Emergency Management, Preparedness, Rescue, and Disaster Response as a strong law and code enforcement professional with a B.S. in Fire Service Management focused on Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from California State University-Sacramento. In 2020, he was featured on an episode of the "I am Sacramento" video series.
