Join us to build the capacity of individuals to succeed by providing opportunities to learn and lead within our communities.

The Sacramento START Site Teams are comprised of a Program Coordinator and Recreation Aides (the exact number per school based on a 20:1 student-instructor ratio). These teams are tasked with not only implementing the program design model at their schools but they are also empowered to design curriculum within that design to meet the needs of their school and the interests of their students.

Every site director is certified in CPR and First Aid. All the Sacramento START staff have completed at least 48 units of college coursework or passed the No Child Left Behind Instructional Aide Basic Skills Exam. In addition to these requirements, complete extensive training in Youth Development, Mandated Reporting, Classroom Management, Professionalism, Project Based Learning, Program Activities Planning, Fitness and Nutrition, and more. Our program teams are a diverse group of individuals – many of whom come from the communities they have chosen to serve and can speak the dominant languages of their school – dedicated to developing every child we serve.

Join us as a Recreation Aide, help children expand their health and fitness knowledge, and explore various physical activities and nutritional awareness in a safe and caring Expanded Learning environment. Teaching school children about healthy nutrition habits and engaging them in physical activity benefit them for a lifetime. Helping children expand their health and fitness knowledge and explore various physical activities and nutritional awareness. The curriculum includes health, nutrition, and fitness that address childhood obesity.

Summer and school break work opportunities are available at out Summer Oasis outdoor park camps and school sites

This Recreational Aide position works for the City of Sacramento’s Summer Oasis program. This program provides school-age children with physical activity and social development opportunities through fun and outdoor recreation at some of our popular city parks and school sites. The Summer programs operate daily, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Recreation Aides can work a flexible schedule for this Summer programming week.
